It would be much cheaper and certainly faster to use synthetic padding or import mass-produced items offshore, but that’s not who I am. I’ve spent months sourcing the right oeko-tex standard interfacings, and fabrics that will break down at the end of their life — not clog landfill. I ensure the hardware is quality -so you can enjoy your purchases for many years to come. And re-use parts that are re-usable.

🌿Polyester, for instance, is classed as synthetic fiber, so it is non-biodegradable, it does not break down naturally. It can take between 20 to 200 years to degrade.

🌿Cotton is biodegradable. It takes between 6 months to 5 years to decompose. It is a fibre made by nature in the form of the cotton plant, not by man.

🌿Planet Terra is built around this concept: for the bulk of what is created, to be able to return to the soil in as harmless a fashion as possible. Those pieces which can't, such as the hardware, they have a re-usable value. The ONLY part that is the most difficult to re-use is the zip.

🌿The parts you are unable to see in pouches, but which do 'the heavy work' by giving it stability and form, is the interfacing or wadding.

🌿The wadding is always natural cotton, without a polyester 'scrim'.
🌿The interfacing is either a woven cotton, or more and more, an oeko tex cotton with fully biodegradable polymer adhesive. As far as I have researched, there are no 'nasty' ingredients in this world-first interfacing. Yes, it is dearer than regular interfacing. And this is also a reason my products are not always the cheapest available on the market. But I believe in using the best I can source: for you, for me, and for the planet.

This fabric! ❤️..... I wanted to keep it natural, so I quilted natural cotton wadding to the outer fabric, rather than using interfacing for form and stiffness.

(Interfacing is attached by melting a very thin layer of glue between 2 fabrics, which is ok, but sometimes I just want to be able to offer a more natural product. )

Anyhow, these puppies are ready for their new home, lined with matching paw prints!
I haven't listed it on the website just yet, feel free to DM me . It's approx 15 X 21 cm.
